Maison Jacynthe Makeup Review
Maison Jacynthe Makeup Review
Shimmer my cheeks red, I’m feeling serious maple pride introducing my Maison Jacynthe Makeup Review! This Canadian-born, organic skincare brand is growing. Instead of just making skincare products, Maison Jacynthe is now branching-off making healthy, toxic-free, vegan makeup too!
Staying true to her green-roots, Jacynthe’s makeup comes in cardboard casings. Sold separately are her eco, wooden refillable cases… Buy your makeup, next you buy the case to hold-it (if not your powder-based makeup products come in a cardboard, cutout) For the sake of this review, I made sure to not only get a powder product, but one of the refillable compacts that go along with it too.
Included in my Maison Jacynthe Makeup Review:
- $33Cnd – Lipstick #07 (Mocha)
- $32Cnd – Terracotta #02 Bronzer
- $29Cnd – (Large) Refillable Compact
*All Maison Jacynthe Makeup is 93-100% natural (only the red pigment is synthetic)*

LIPSTICK – Maison Jacynthe Makeup Review
Consider this to be a moisturizing lipstick- not the dry, matte kinds that suck the life out of your lips (but stick+stay all day…) This is more the lipstick you’d reach for when you have chapped-lips and need not only color, but some natural moisturizing love. Since it’s candelilla wax based it’ll not only keep your lips soft, it’ll lock-in moisture.
Lipstick always has a taste (well to me they do at least…) Maison Jacynthe’s lipstick tastes like DuWop’s plumping “Lip Venom” minus the nasty, godawful stinging feeling. If you’re not familiar with that brand it tastes kind of like a spicy berry; pleasant and definitely natural – nothing fragrant, heavy or toxic.
The lipstick goes on smooth, leaves a shine, and lasts for about an hour before you need to re-apply. Plus, the case is beyond gorgeous: made of eco-chic cherrywood and half sleek metal.
When it comes to color, the shade I chose looks a little lighter online then in-person. I thought #07 would be beige matte, but it’s more medium-brown.
Rarely do I use lipstick, I’m a huge gloss fan… But this natural lipstick is the best of both worlds, it shines like a gloss and it’s pronounced like a lipstick.
TERRACOTTA #2 –Maison Jacynthe Makeup Review
100% Organic
Lately I’ve been jumping on the whole contouring trend – this bronzer was prime for that! It’s not a dark, deep over-bearing bronzer. It’s light, sublte and perfect to make you look a tanned. Giddily, I use it every day, it always gives my skin the perfect amount of “pop”.
There’s a teenie, very subtle amount of sheen (no sparkle to it really); for a bronzer, it’s true to being that terracotta brown.
Neither did it irritate my skin, cause acne, or smudge off in weird ways throughout the day (as many brands have done to me…)
One downside is the price, but I’m happy to say you get a generous amount of bronzer that will last months. You’ll get your money’s worth; I promise, I really adored this cheeky winner! Every day I use it since its made its way into my makeup bag.
One last zinger, I’m so happy I asked for a “LARGE COMPACT” to hold my Terracotta #2. Void of this compact I’d have no casing for it, instead my bronzer would just be held by cardboard. More info, on why investing in a Maison Jacynthe “Refillable Compact” is worth it below…
REFILLABLE COMPACT – Maison Jacynthe Makeup Review
Pick from 2 different sizes of refillable compact’s on Maison Jacynthe:
Medium compact is ideal for:
- 2 eyeshadows
- 1 blush
- 1 compact powder
Large compact is ideal for:
- 4 eyeshadows
- 1 compact powder with 1 blush
- 1 compact powder (or 1 blush) with 2 eyeshadows
- 1 terracotta
Casings are magnet based, so once you drop your makeup into the compact, it grips and doesn’t slip (mine has never budged since inserting).
Looks wise, it’s the same as the lipstick (half cherrywood / half metal). Just spin the cover to expose product when you need to paint your face. Spin it back, to close for safekeeping.
Vegan/organic makeup ain’t cheap nor something that can be easily made DIY at home. So, if you’re going to pay the higher price ticket, might as well get a few casing to properly store it. Bonus too, you can keep reusing the compact, they protect your makeup, and they make application easier.
CONCLUSION – Maison Jacynthe Makeup Review
Being that I’m a huge fan of everything Jacynthe makes skincare wise (her shea butter is the BEST I’ve ever used, its been my face lotion for 2yrs now!) Seriously knew her makeup wouldn’t be anything but amazing too.
Not disappointed, even exceeding my expectations (cause I’ve tried some crappy, organic makeup – oh boy…) – these products can roll & keep-up with even the best Sephora brands. Makes me happy to preach and share this Maison Jacynthe Makeup Review.

Previously called (Les Soins de Jacynthe) – now MAISON JACYNTHE, have been hard at work revamping their online image too. Finally translating their French-only website, to offer English too (making shopping so much easier!)
Ooooh I’ve been wondering what you think of their new makeup line! You are a genius for thinking about the compact! I had no idea that the makeup would ship in just the stand alone pans so after they arrived and I saw that I decided to go the cheaper route and pick up my first Z Palette since I had nothing to hold mine either! Love the Terra Cotta and can’t wait for Summer (hilarious because we just hit Fall, lol) since I’m so pale and it’s a tad too warm for me right now. Such a pretty lipstick shade too! So many things from the line are now on my wishlist haha, so glad you introduced me to this brand! ;))
Hahaha, I’m going to go head over and read yours now too!!! LOL – Super stoked you got to try em Mercy 🙂 I knew you’d serve them beyond well. Wasn’t it hellish trying to pick only 3 things ahahaha, I sat there forever constantly changing my list. Once I saw the compacts I was like “ooooh…” lol – I just about ordered without one too though! Man, I’m losing my color fast here too, white winter Canadian I am soon to be ahahaha 🙂 Thanks for being awesome & retweeting me too!
I have never heard of this brand at all, and I’m really glad that you did a review. The products look great–even the brouchure looks pretty!! I think I need to at least try the shea butter! xo
