Cocoon Apothecary Review (Starter Kit & Eyewaken Eye Cream)

  • OVERALL IMPRESSION (5 out of 5 stars!)

I was recently on a mission to find a high-quality rosehip seed oil when I found the talented lotion & potion makers from “COCOON APOTHECARY”.

They are suppliers of organic, chemical-free, safe skincare products based out of Kitchener, ON (Canada)

Never one to back away from supporting a local, I was giddy when Cocoon Apothecary sent me these items for review:

  • Skin Care Starter Kit
  • Eyewaken Eye Cream

 kits from Cocoon Apothecary

All products were in GLASS AMBER BOTTLES! Wow, thank you Cocoon Apothecary! You’re one of few companies to invest in proper glass packaging.

Essential oil products are powerful ingredients, when stored in cheap plastic bottles, the oils leach into the plastic… Sometimes even able to eat through it.  Also, essential oils are sensitive to light. They must always be stored in tinted, amber bottles. If not, they lose their therapeutic properties.

Cocoon Apothecary have respected this fact and package all their products properly! Good, thick, amber bottles and pumps that actually work – applause please!

PETAL PURTITY FACIAL CLEANSER is an sweet almond oil-based face cleanser. If you haven’t used oil to clean your face, you need to get on the band-wagon and give it a whirl. There’s no better start than with this 100% plant-based version. Petal Purity rids your face of dirt, void of any harsh stings or scrubs.

Oil-based cleansers are amazing on all skin-types, including sensitive ones because oil acts as a barrier to protect your skin and locks-in moisture. Forget aggressive soap or alcohol stripping cleansers that leave your eyes swollen and your head spinning, oil is the new kid on the block.

INGREDIENTS Purified water, certified organic sweet almond oil, certified organic virgin coconut oil, cetearyl alcohol (wax from coconut), stearic acid (plant-based), vegetable glycerin, certified organic geranium essential oil, certified organic lavender essential oil, sodium anisate (derived from basil), sodium levulinate (derived from corn), sodium ceteraryl sulfate (from coconut), rosemary leaf extract.

ROSE FEW FACIAL TONER is absolutely alcohol-free! Instead it’s filled with one pivotal ingredient that every woman needs in her life: certified organic rose hydrosol. The reason toners are amazing is they cure “elastic face”- that feeling your skin gets after getting out of the shower (caused by your pH levels being totally out of whack…) Rose water based toners are soothing, purifying and a beauty secret for centuries. I used this toner after cleansing my face, as a make-up setter (just misted over my face after my makeup was done), and after showers. If I could shower in rose water I would, what a dream- but since I can’t toners are the next greatest thing.

EYEWAKEEyewaken Eye Cream (from site)N EYE CREAM (20ml)

Cost: $30.00

For eye creams to be effective you want ingredients rich in vitamin-E. Cocoon Apothecary chose grapeseed oil and argan oil- synonymously known for their high vitamin-E content, their ability to fight skin damage, and smooth out fine lines- beware crows feet, this cream is coming for you! Eyewaken Eye Cream was soothing and easy to apply around the eye. A little goes a long way with this product. Even after applying every night for 2 weeks, I’ll still have some for weeks to come… It also smells so sweet, like candies (notes of sweet almond oil- yummy!)

This was my favorite product out of the bunch!
